Commodity Watch: Zinc Futures Decline On Weak Demand

New Delhi: Zinc prices on Tuesday fell 0.14 per cent to Rs 247.75 per kilogram in futures trade as speculators reduced their exposures, tracking negative cues from the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc contracts for May delivery traded lower by 35 paise or 0.14 per cent at Rs 247.75 per kg in 2,255 lots. Analysts said the trimming of positions by participants owing to slackened demand from consuming industries in the physical market mainly weighed on zinc prices.
Copper futures gain on higher demand
Copper futures on Tuesday rose 0.18 per cent to Rs 850.50 per kilogram on the back of higher spot demand. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper contracts for May delivery grew Rs 1.55 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 850.50 per kg in a business turnover of 5,547 lots.
Aluminium futures rise on fresh bets
Aluminium prices on Tuesday rose 70 paise to Rs 232.60 per kilogram in the futures market as speculators built up fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in May increased 70 paise or 0.3 per cent to Rs 232.60 per kg in 3,599 lots.
